Grumpy Cat is more than an Internet meme expressing discontent about life; he’s a $1 million dollar brand.
The Grumpy cat was featured on the cover of New York Magazine, his actually name is Tardar Sauce. and the owner of this beloved cat Tabatha Bundesen, 28, has allowed Tadar to grow into the sensation he is now, to be on gossip site TMZ for a segment which has spawned a press tour to meet fans.
Grumpy Cat has grown to be quite popular, and along with a determined manager doing everything it takes to preserve his image, which includes having Tabatha and Tarder ride in an Escalade to meet-and-greets with fans.
“My goal always has been to help get these things treated the same as any other entertainment property,” Ben Lashes, Grumpy Cat’s manager who was also behind the success of Keyboard Cat, told the magazine.
Although promoting a cat looks difficult but when it’s the only one on the planet, Martin Brochstein, a senior vice-president at the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association, told NY Mag.
