FIFA chief Sepp Blatter says teams should be docked points or relegated if found guilty of racist abuse.
Two incidents have blighted Spanish football over the last two weekends –Dani Alves had a banana thrown at him at Villarreal’s El Madrigal, whilst Atletico Madrid fans were seen aiming monkey gestures at Levante’s Pape Diop.
And the leader of the game’s governing body has insisted that teams found guilty have to face tougher sanctions.
“I’m very angry,” he told L’Equipe. “Teams should be docked points or relegated.”
Blatter has previously said there would be ‘zero-tolerance’ for racism at the World Cup in Brazil this summer, but UEFA has a history of dishing out paltry fines to clubs found guilty of discriminatory abuse.
