Acne Studios is a Stockholm based fashion house with a multidisciplinary approach. The founder and Creative Director Jonny Johansson’s at this years Paris Spring/Summer Menswear show styled mid-century soda fountain waiter boys ‘prim and proper’.
Inspired by the “confident nothing of the skateboarder”, the brand’s Jonny Johansson conceived a collection that was more than ever inspired by his nearest and dearest. His designs honest, and something that people want to; looking at the collection there’s definitely a hint of relevance to his life ‘son and himself’. The models slim forms seemed at ease in the “one size up” although one could refer to it as oversize, I reminisce of the 1990’s knit oversized tunic length sweaters the which was quite a big hit.
Johansson collection abundant with traditional casual, the coach jacket, wide leg shorts or oversize sweaters emblematize his creed of reality, that is given a luxe Acne update in alcantara, leather or springy cotton knit.
As a whole, this collection served as a reminder of Acne’s streetwear roots, the push towards the radically new, or the pull towards the nostalgic and upmarket. Rather, it’s an attempt at transcribing the essential understatement that silhouettes need to be built upon, a juxtaposition of casualness and confidence.
