Gaultier the Man of Couture
While last F/W collection Gaultier presented butterflies, this Fall/Winter 2014 Collection would be all inspired by Bogeyman. Vampires in fact were the main theme on the catwalk. These elegently dressed vamps seemed ready for some night prowling with their body-con leather and well-tailored suits. From Victorian lace to black jumpsuits to “Queen of the Damned” gold chains, the Gaultier woman cuts a striking figure as she exudes pure power and sex appeal with her blood-red lips and blocky pompadour hairstyle. Gaultier picked Eurovision Song Contest winner Conchita Wurst to close his show, dressing the Austrian—known by her stage name, “Bearded Lady”—in a funeral-like bridal gown. “I always say that beauty is difference and Conchita has shown us all that she is unstoppable,” the designer told The Independent after the show. Also on the runway: 56-year-old Catherine Loewe, who opened the show.
